Not just another magazine - Outlet kickoff event
The freshly founded online magazine Outlet had a successfull testfly tuesday night at the Mandrake Bar. The two testpilots for this event were Jason Payne, of the LA based architecture firm GNUform and Hernan Diaz Alonso, Head of Xefirotarch. Jason Paynes presentation included the competition entry for the PS1
competition as well as a receptionist bar designed for a newly founded
risky TV channel. Some of the kinky details involved in the design
aspect of this bar include voluptous forms snuggling the pelvis zone,
buckling surface articulations resembling body curves as well as furry
fluffy embellishments cuddling the tactile senses. My own private
favorite detail beeing the use of straight nose piercings as connector
between panels, what an elegant solution! Speaking of panels, the red
translucent panels where fabricated using milled forms and vacuforming.
The night went on with a panel discussion between Jason Payne and Hernan Diaz Alonso, that included issues such as ideas of the horrific and the grotesque the progress of the younger architects generation, the importance of teaching and the differentiation between the Acid generation and the Extasy generation. I wonder if we allready reached a stadium within the younger architects generation where there is a necessity to discuss the differentiation of generations, in an introspective manner? After all it was a sucessfull night for the newly founded magazine Outlet, founded by SCI-Arc faculty member Peter Zellner, and we look forward for the upcoming events of this magazine.
